We're All Connected Somehow

There's a set of channels on YouTube that I subscribe to called "Minute Physics" and "Minute Earth". These are ran by Henry Reich and his team. The videos are short, very scientific, to the point and incredibly interesting. They live by the following quote "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough". And they do it just like that. The last thing I expected is for them to explain the situation in Venezuela over the last year, so well, so simply and so thorough. And why was that? This situation affects them. It turns out the Illustrator for "Minute Earth" is Ever Salazar, a Venezuelan citizen who still lives there.

I was moved by the video, where Henry Reich, the narrator for all these videos, takes a break from science, and speaks from the heart regarding his friend Ever and his disgust for the situation that seems impossible to understand for those of us living in the First World.

I took some time after I watched this to think about how this world is becoming a much smaller place. The last thing I expected was for this YouTube channel, seemingly unrelated to world events, to be so invested in the situation happening in my country of birth. I guess we are all far more connected than we thought. I want to thank them for taking the time to care, to explain, to inform and to wish us well in this trying time for my home country.

God Bless the people of Venezuela. And thank you "Minute Physics".
