Thank God for Hillary and Donald

Worst election options in a very long time

The past 2 elections or so has sprung up the following phrase when electing our leaders, "let's vote for the lesser of two evils". This phrase makes some inherent assumptions. Number 1, our candidates are evil, not only that but we are fully aware of that. We have 2 bad options and we are settling for the one we believe is will do us the least amount of harm. Number 2, if we continue this path of choosing evil, whether it's the greater or lesser of the 2, what does it make us? It makes us evil worst and complacent at best.

Bernie experienced what it's like to do al lot of hard
work only to have someone else reap the benefits,
welcome to socialism.
This election seems to have taken a turn for the worse since the last one. The Republican party who had been fantasizing with the idea of Donald Trump got their wish come true, and it's become an uncontrollable monster to say the least. And the Democratic party has nominated, albeit rather forcibly, Hillary Clinton, also a fantasy of theirs since the days of John Kerry. So now we have it, both candidates from both major parties have been confirmed, and it looks like it's going to get really ugly from now until November. Right or wrong, I do hope those supporters are standing by their candidate based on their platform or accomplishment and not because of what most people are saying out there. "I'm voting for ___ so that ____ doesn't win," Again, the same "voting for the lesser of 2 evils" mentality.

However it seems that during this election the sentiment is even worse. Republicans fear that Hillary may be the worse thing to happen to this country if she's elected and Democrats believe the same thing about Trump. This election has the highest unfavorable ratings for either candidate, and even receive more criticism from their own party as well.

So why do they keep winning? Why are establishment type candidates so established? Because of fear. People who can make a difference in this election are either scared, lazy or indifferent about the election process. Republicans are a lost sight from what Ronald Reagan was, and Democrats are really far off from what JFK did for this country. Instead now it's all negative propaganda. Don't vote for Trump because he's an arrogant racist narcissistic xenophobe. Don't vote for Hillary because she's a law-breaking lying cheat who will say or do anything to get elected. There are really no positive alternatives out there, or is there?

I guess we should stay together, you know ... for the kids
If I were a Bernie Sanders supporter I'd be feeling betrayed and hopeless when I saw Bernie endorsing Hillary last week. There are clear cut differences between the two candidates and having them standing next to each other holding hands must have felt like a slap in the face. They both claim to support campaign reform, Obama's immigration plan and to raise the minimum wage. However, Bernie was more outspoken on expanding Social Security, cracking down on Wall St more strictly and ultimately allow the middle east to deal with their own problems. A big contrast from Hillary on the last issues, which are no small ticket items, these are serious issues that not only Democrats consider important but all Americans in general.

The stage is now set, Hillary and her VP candidate Tim Kaine will run for a very fractured Democratic party and Trump and Pence will run representing a very hurt and confused Republican party. And somewhere on both parties there seems to be a huge group that feels unrepresented, uninterested and downright insulted, searching for an alternative.

Search no more, the alternative has been in front of us all along. Enter former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson and his running mate former Massachusetts William Weld. Both winning reelection on their respective states with astounding margins. This is the ticket for the Libertarian party, one which has drawn attention from both Republicans and Democrats alike. And thanks to those of us who "wasted" our votes on a 3rd party over the last 4 years, the Libertarian party will be on the ballot in all 50 states, and if we can just get 15% support on different national polls, he will be allowed to debate on the national stage. These polls change daily, but Johnson averages about 10%, and this number is expected to rise after the national conventions for either party.

He's the only candidate that's addressing our crippling debt, term limits on senators. Also, the only candidate with actual job creation experience, governing a state near the border, and wants to get the government out of the abortion issue and the internet, among other important issues that affect all of us.

This is his message for all of us:

"Be libertarian with me this one time. If in 4 years we decide that we don't like peace, prosperity and freedom ... we can always vote tyranny back into office again."

The stage is set, the 2 party system has failed us, decades of complacency have yielded the two of the worst possible candidates in history, let's turn our backs on this failed system and give liberty and freedom a chance.
